About me

My name is Joy Heathcote

A dedicated Psychosocial Recovery Coach supporting NDIS participants to achieve their goals and live with greater confidence, independence, and connection. With years of experience in mental health and community support, I offer personalised, trauma-informed coaching tailored to each person’s unique journey. My approach is client-centred and focused on building resilience, life skills, and self-advocacy. Whether working in-person or remotely, I’m committed to providing consistent, compassionate support that empowers people to take meaningful steps toward the life they want.

At Rise and Recover, we’re passionate about walking alongside NDIS participants on their recovery journey. Led by Joy Heathcote, an experienced and trauma-informed Psychosocial Recovery Coach, we provide consistent, person-centred support tailored to each individual’s goals, strengths, and needs.

With a strong background in mental health and community services, we focus on building life skills, resilience, and confidence while fostering meaningful connections. Whether in-person or online, our approach is grounded in trust, empathy, and collaboration — ensuring you have the tools, guidance, and encouragement to navigate the NDIS, engage supports, and live more independently.

Qualification and Compliance

Education

Education & Training

  • Mental Health Certificate – Formal qualification in supporting individuals with mental health challenges.

  • Western Sydney University Qualifications – Tertiary training relevant to psychosocial recovery and community support.

  • Counseling and Mental Health

Specialist Training

  • First Aid Certificate – Certified to respond to medical emergencies.

  • Suicide Prevention & Intervention Training – Skilled in recognising and responding to crisis situations (ASIST/SafeTALK or similar).

  • Cultural Awareness & Aboriginal Cultural Safety Training – Committed to providing culturally respectful and safe services for all clients.

Clearances & Checks

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check – Approved to work with NDIS participants, meeting strict safety and quality requirements.

  • Police Clearance – Verified background check for client safety and peace of mind.

  • Working with Children Check – Authorised to work with children and young people in both support and community settings.
